Star Trek: Discovery has arrived! I’m not really a Trekkie, although I’ve seen everything Star Trek except for the cartoon and the latest movie, but this had me excited. A slightly darker Star Trek, with a female protagonist. So, I watched the first episode on Netflix last Monday.
Mass Effect Andromeda has been out for a few months, but I only recently finished it. I loved the original Mass Effect and after years in development, I had high hopes for Andromeda – emphasis on ‘had’.
In my day job I’m a software developer. That means I create software that automates or aids some process that humans used to do by hand, or could not perform altogether. Before my team actually gets down to writing the software, and sometimes even during, we have to have a lot of long discussions. This is in shrill contrast to writing a story, where I can sit down and go. I’m going to look at both extremes a bit closer today.
Killjoys is a science fiction TV show about a trio of bounty hunters in a grim future. It recently appeared on Netflix and I didn’t expect much of it. I was pleasantly surprised.
