What’s it like being a dad in the twenty-first century?

I started writing about being a dad when my daughter was age one. Now, she’s seven. Time to take a look at the various ages that have passed.
Remember how your birthday was the best day of the year when you were young? As a parent, I now find myself on the organizing side of this event. And that is a very different experience.

Last week, my daughter asked me “what’s that blue and yellow flag?” while I was taking her to school. People have been hanging the Ukrainian flag in their windows, as a show of support. So, do I tell her, or wait until she’s older?
